Psychology Intern

Personal Statement:
During my first visit to College Station I was immediately won over by Texas hospitality and dozens of "howdys." I am excited to experience this more fully during my internship year and be a part of the great traditions and culture of Aggieland. I especially look forward to the opportunity to serve the A&M students and community. I have enjoyed working with college students and assisting them as they go through many life changes and make important decisions during the critical college years. I enjoy working with students and being involved with them in such an intimate and personal setting.

When I am not working, I am most likely spending time with my wife and our two boys. We love doing anything that has to do with sports or the outdoors-hiking, camping, geocaching, visiting new places. My wife and kids also endure my obsessions with Lost, Guatemala, the History Channel, and trivia. We are all excited to be a part of and experience TAMU. Gig 'em Aggies!!!

Theoretical Orientation:
I believe that people are best helped in therapy and in life when they are able to create and maintain meaningful relationships. Because of this, I highly value the therapeutic relationship and consider it necessary to monitor the therapeutic alliance as well as give and receive feedback throughout therapy to maximize client outcome. Thus, therapy involves creating a supportive environment where clients can feel accepted, but also challenging clients so they can experiment, learn more about one's self and find more fulfillment in life. Along with creating an atmosphere of support and challenge, I also hope to demonstrate an acceptance of multicultural clients and diversity issues. As a result of numerous experiences in life, I have found that there is more depth to people than can be seen on the outside, a depth which I look forward to continually understanding as I serve the A&M students as an intern.
