Derek Bergeron
Firstly, I must say that I am happy to be back at Texas A&M, and I appreciate the opportunity to
contribute to the university community as a professional staff member. I enjoy working in a university
setting, and I feel there is a great potential for development within the student population. I strive
to be a well-rounded professional, as I believe that the roles a psychologist in a university setting
are asked to assume are varied (e.g. therapist, teacher, consultant, advocate). This attitude fits well
with my role as the Psychologist for the College of Veterinary Medicine here at Texas A&M, as this
position provides me the opportunity to provide service in a variety of contexts, such as providing
psychoeducational classes related to various topics (e.g. perfectionism, stress management, animal
hoarding), offering training in communication, and providing individual counseling. I enjoy my work, and
am invested in facilitating the growth and success of students here at Texas A&M University. Outside of
my professional endeavors, I am an avid musician. I also enjoy reading, watching movies, and cycling.
