Personal Statement:
I am so excited to be a practicum counselor at the Student Counseling Services on Texas A&M campus this semester! Being a college student can come with unique challenges and I am excited to work with students throughout their college journey. It can be an uncertain and stressful time in one’s life, thus I tend to utilize a strengths based approach as a source for empowerment. I believe that everybody has great strength within themselves to find and choose their own paths, goals, and directions. I am a first generation college graduate and thus have experienced some of the difficulties associated with this identity. I am passionate about exploring concerns associated with first generation status, cultural, and minority issues, etc. with students. I hope to create a nurturing and safe environment in which students feel that they can open up and explore themselves. In my free time I enjoy to travel, go to the gym, and spend time with family and friends.
