Shawn Prommar, B.S.

Personal Statement:
I am excited to join Texas A&M University for my counseling practicum as part of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling master’s program at Sam Houston State University. The college years are exciting but full of challenges such as confidence, self-esteem, relationships, and independence. As a counselor, my goal is to provide a safe environment where students can address their challenges and concerns.  Through a collaborative therapeutic approach, my hope is to empower students by promoting growth and insight to achieve peace and harmony with themselves and others.
Academic Training:
M.A., Clinical and Mental Health Counseling, Sam Houston State University (in-progress)
B.S., in Psychology, Minor in Sociology, Sam Houston State University
Areas of Special Interest:
Sexual orientation and gender identity and expression, identity development, relationship concerns, family of origin, and diversity. 
Theoretical Orientation:
Integrative with a foundation in person-centered and Gestalt therapy.
